Shore Cycling Sports now offers classes, on an appointment basis, that will teach you to repair and maintain your bicycle as well as to prepare you to make emergency roadside repairs. We will not only teach you the basics but you will learn our secrets for repairing your own bicycle.

Road Side Repair - $100
(max. 4 people per class) In this 2 - 3 hour class you will learn how to fix the things that stop your ride.
Check your bike pre-ride Fix a flat tire Fix a broken chain Deal with broken spokes Make a minor adjustment to your shifting & brakes Pack tools and parts appropriate to your bike, your skill, and your specific ride
Getting Greasy - $250
(max. 2 people per class) Ready for the next level of bike repair? Getting Greasy is the perfect way to gain a thorough knowledge of your bike -- how it works, how to clean it, and how to care for it. During this class you'll learn how to thoroughly clean your drive train and make various adjustments to the whole bike, including: Basic alignment check (rear triangle and dropouts) Remove and clean your chain Hub bearing adjustments Remove and clean your cranks and derailleurs Bottom bracket adjustment Thorough shifting adjustments How to use several specific shop tools
The Overhaul Course - $300
(max. 1 person per class) This is it, the ultimate SCS class. In it you'll learn how to perform a a complete seasonal overhaul, the most comprehensive service we offer at the shop. This 3-hour course is the class for the person who has the skills that the 'Getting Greasy' course covers, but wants to learn everything there is to know about their bike! In this class you will strip your bike and completely overhaul it. The price includes a new set of cables and housing. Whew! Sounds like fun. Below are some of the things you'll learn in this extensive course: How to completely rebuild your hubs How to completely rebuild your bottom bracket How to completely rebuild your head set How to inspect your bearing surfaces for wear How to use bicycle-specific tools Fix a broken spoke How to align your dropouts on the frame & fork How to align your derailleur hanger How to install & pre-stretch all the cables
Wheel Building- $75/hr* (max. 1 person per class) Here at SCS we make it a point to only sell handbuilt wheels to our customers. Have you ever wondered how to build a round, true wheel from the spokes up? Here's your chance to work one-on-one to build a wheel for yourself at your own pace. In this class you'll learn: How to lace up a wheel How to adjust spoke tension How to keep your wheel true & round Along with anything else you'd like to learn about wheel building
*Note: Class fee is $75/hr with a 10% discount on materials when purchased at the time of the class. If you provide your own materials, class fee is $100/hr.
